Among Oreteti’s most popular programmes are those based in real Maasai villages, where guests are warmly welcomed into the extended family and participate fully in homestead life. Instead of taking photos of the Maasai warriors in their red robes as they pose artistically with their spears, or jump up and down singing "Welcome, tourists, give us your money". You can have your picture taken with them as you sit around the fire sharing tea, food and ideas

Prices start from just £35 per person per day, depending on group size and programme duration. We provide experienced professional Maasai guides who can translate both language and traditions, giving you a real insight into one of Africa’s most fascinating and enduring cultures. Accommodation may be in a “luxury mud hut” adapted for guests (subject to availability, available in certain villages only) or in a tent just outside the homestead. All meals will be provided by our experienced chefs, to give the perfect balance between traditional African and Western-style dishes.

As we promised, we’ll always pay all participants fairly and donate at least 10% of the profit direct to educational projects in that specific village, through our charity Oreteti Saplings Foundation.

Here are just a few of the unique opportunities that Oreteti’s Maasai village programmes offer:
